Andrew Everett wants to volunteer 2017-09-08 13:43:07 -0700Thanks for your interest in joining us in doing what we can to serve North Park by seeking justice and healing in all that we do. Let's see what we'll do together with God's help! Become a volunteer
A partnership between the International Rescue Committee (IRC), St. Luke's North Park, and the North Park Community
An organic urban farm run by City Heights high school students. A commercial kitchen training refugee women. And a flexible cafe and performance space that brings the food they grow and prepare for you to enjoy!
The organic urban farm is run by Youth FarmWorks, an IRC program that gives five Crawford and Hoover High students 10-week paid internships as they learn how to plant, grow, harvest, and sell vegetables. Buy what they grow at the North Park Farmers' Market on Thursday afternoons or in front of the farm on Saturday mornings!
The commercial kitchen will house Project CHOP, a culinary arts job training program for refugee women. They're already up and running in City Heights and will move in once St. Luke's completes fundraising for its commercial kitchen upgrade -- help us raise the final necessary funds by clicking here! And consider ordering a catering tray from Project CHOP sometime soon.
The MAKE Garden Cafe, located next to the farm, is the flexible cafe and performance space that brings the produce of the farm, the products of the kitchen, and the people of North Park together. Starting with some pop-up events this spring, the Garden Café will serve handcrafted teas, coffees, baked goods and salads and feature a cultural arts gallery with rotating visual arts displays (sculptures, murals, woven arts) and musical performances representing the many refugee and immigrant cultures in nearby City Heights. We are in the fundraising and planning stages and welcome your support and ideas in helping to make this a reality!
Please fill out the form below so we can stay in touch with you as these dreams develop. We'd also love to sit down with you and hear your ideas -- be in touch with Colin at email@example.com.Sign up
