Fundraiser Chef's Dinners

St. Luke's is sending twenty of its leaders on a delegation to Uganda and an East African refugee camp next summer 2022, and we need your help to make this exciting dream a reality! 

We are offering a monthly series of three-course dinners designed by local chefs and prepared by our congregants to fundraise for this trip. Dinners will be held in person at St. Luke's in North Park.

 

June 27th meal is presented by Chef Andrew Gerdes

Chef Andrew is currently the Chef Trainer for MAKE Projects where he trains refugee and immigrant women. He combines fresh, seasonal produce with globally inspired flavors! Prior to joining MAKE Projects, Andrew spent 13 years in NYC attending the French Culinary Institute, working at Thomas Keller's Bouchon Bakery, and then working as a Sous Chef for one of the top school food programs in the country at The Calhoun School. Chef Andrew moved to San Diego nearly three years ago with his wife and four-year-old son.  He enjoys cooking over the charcoal grill in the backyard on weekends and playing pickup basketball at every opportunity!

Persian Cucumber & Tomato Salad with Creamy Feta Cheese, Garden Mint, & Pomegranate Vinaigrette 

Xawaash Seared Locally Caught Tuna with Somali Bizbaz (tuna to be served rare) or

Coconut Curry Chickpeas, Sweet Potato & Summer Squash

Orange Olive Oil Cake with Macerated Summer Fruit & Toasted Almonds 

 

Each ticket is $60, so please make your payment based on how many tickets you'd like to purchase.  We'd appreciate any additional donations to underwrite this expedition as well.
