If this is your first time visiting St. Luke’s, or even if you’ve been part of the community for quite awhile, you might be curious about all the changes happening on Sundays. Our co-pastors, Colin and Laurel Mathewson, will be away from the church from June-September: first traveling with a delegation team from St. Luke’s to East Africa, and then taking time away from the congregation for sabbatical and renewal. We seek to make this time of change a season of congregational renewal, too, as we hear other voices preach and teach, and take time to share our sacred stories with one another in small groups.
Upcoming preachers and teachers in June include:
Dawn Stary, our seminarian who used to be our children and family minister!
David Tremaine, one of our Renewal Summer Pastoral Support leaders;
Hannah Wilder, the priest who will be celebrating the eucharist with us throughout the summer, among other responsibilities.
During July through September, leaders of the delegation who visited east Africa in June will be sharing their experiences and the congregation will break out in small groups during the worship service to respond to their sharing. We expect this to be a lively and life-giving weekly rhythm.
Here are more details on our congregational renewal plans for the summer.
