St. Luke's Job Development Program is an investment in the earning capacity of twenty of our core Sudanese and Congolese refugee parishioners. Through personalized and culturally-specific job counseling, training, and placement, we will increase the ability of these individuals to not just make ends meet each month, but eventually thrive in San Diego. Their combined 47 additional household members will also directly benefit from their successfully obtaining more lucrative and stable employment. What we learn in helping these twenty individuals will be applied to future beneficiaries through this program, and will also be communicated informally through the beneficiaries themselves among their social networks. This program is ultimately an investment in the strength and resilience of our Sudanese and Congolese refugee communities in San Diego.
