Nyarugusu Refugee Camp

The Nyarugusu refugee camp in Tanzania has served as the temporary home for more than 100,000 Congolese and Burundi refugees for some two decades.  Several of our parishioners grew up in this camp, and we had the privilege of visiting during our pilgrimage.  St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church has launched an English Training Center with the financial help of Apalasi, one of our vestry members.  This effort teaches some 100 students English and could use additional financial support.  The camp’s Methodist church is supported by the HEMOS God ministry funded by Matrida, our music director.  This humanitarian offering involves food and hygiene supplies and is also in need of funds.
